Flachstahl vom Band ist ein zu langen Stangen gewalzter Stahl mit rechteckigem Querschnitt. Flachstahl gemäß DIN EN 10058 ist für die weiterverarbeitende Industrie ein wichtiges Vorprodukt, Halbzeug oder Ausgangsmaterial. Flachstahl unter 5 mm Materialdicke wird als Bandstahl bezeichnet, ebenso ab 110 mm Breite mit einer Dicke < 8 mm.
